My Workbench

Transparency is a core part of the MEEMEA philosophy. That is why you can find all the retailers, tools, favorite yarns, and information about the manufacturing process here. This list and the descriptions are not the result of any cooperation and are not advertisements. At best, they are recommendations based on my own experience.

Printed Matter

For enclosure cards, booklets, and other printed materials, I use Peterprint (website). This shop has an excellent selection of papers and design variants, and offers great value for money even for smaller print runs.

I chose Wunderlabel (website) for the silk labels and hangtags. After a few trials, I was very impressed by the production and quality. The design process is very easy using their online configurator.

I have my faux leather labels made by Birch and Cider (Etsy shop).

Yarns

The foundation of my stash was created through a wool shop clearance sale and was shaped by Lana Grossa (website) Brigitte No. 1. Later, Gedifra (website) Cottolana joined as a second favorite yarn.

With the dreamlike alpaca wool from Hansa Farm (online shop), another manufacturer became a permanent fixture in my designs.

The yarns used are listed in detail in the patterns and products.

Tools

From the very beginning, I have knitted with needles from addi (website).

In the meantime, I tried other recommendations, but the feel, handling, and quality were reasons for me to stick with addi.

My favorites are:

  • addiCraSyTrio Unicorn & Novel
  • addiClick Novel Lace (Short)
  • addiClick Unicorn Lace (Long)
  • addiColibri double-pointed needles (from 2.5 mm – 10 mm)

Pattern & Knitting Ideas

I taught myself how to knit and crochet as a teenager using books from the library.

Since 2023, I have used many different wonderful books and videos with beautiful patterns and designs from various knitters to find my way back into it. I quickly began adapting designs with small variations and combinations.

In the process, I developed a preference for lace and cable patterns. I use classic repeats and techniques to develop my own designs.

In a world of creative freedom and high availability, every idea is both new and already in existence. If I specifically use existing patterns, this is referenced in the instructions and descriptions.

Studio / Workbench

MEEMEA is a small business and does not have a separate studio. My workshop is wherever I can knit and find the peace I need for creative thoughts.

Be it on long train journeys, at home, or on vacation in the mountains.

Sales & Pricing

In my online shop, I sell patterns for my designs. This is the core. This is supplemented by the knitted items from my test knits.

The prices for the knitted items are made up of the value of the materials used plus a markup for the hours of work. We are talking about €2 – €5 per hour of work.

The prices for the patterns are essentially based on the complexity of the design, and for booklets, the printing costs are also factored in.
